Chevrolet Volt Recall 18V673: Rear seatbelts may not lock for child seats

NHTSA campaign 18V673, reported September 26, 2018, 15,800 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some rear seatbelt retractors in these vehicles may not automatically lock when the belt is fully pulled out. This can prevent a child seat from being properly secured, which fails federal occupant crash protection requirements.

If a child seat is not held securely in a crash, the risk of injury increases. Owners should check whether their vehicle is affected and make sure any child seat is secured tightly with the belt in its locked position.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear seatbelt retractors and replace them if necessary, at no cost. To check for open recalls, enter your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup site, or contact your dealer or the customer service line for your brand: Cadillac 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet 1-800-222-1020, or GMC 1-800-462-8782, referencing GM recall 18315.
