Forest River Vibe Recall 18V624: Worn Trailer Axle Hub Can Separate, Risking a Crash

NHTSA campaign 18V624, reported September 13, 2018, 935 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain travel trailers may be missing an inner bearing race inside the rear axle hubs. Without it, the hub bearing can burn out or the hub can overheat, and in the worst case the hub can separate from the axle while the trailer is moving.

A hub separation can cause a trailer to detach or lose control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take the recall seriously and not keep towing a trailer that may be affected.

The remedy is free at an authorized dealer: the hubs will be replaced with new hubs or the axles will be replaced. Forest River will notify owners, but you can check your VIN for open recalls and contact the manufacturer's customer service line for your model listed in the recall notice (Forest River recall number 51-0851).
