Forest River Rockwood Recall 18V527: Awning May Deploy While Trailer Is Moving

NHTSA campaign 18V527, reported August 13, 2018, 2,582 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain recreational trailers have an awning that may deploy on its own while the trailer is being towed. The awning can unexpectedly open during travel, which creates a risk of a crash.

If the awning deploys while moving, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should stop using the awning and make sure it is stowed before driving. Forest River will notify affected owners, and an authorized dealer will replace the awning controller free of charge.

To check whether your trailer is included, contact the customer service line for your model listed in the recall notice, or check your VIN for open recalls. The recall began September 13, 2018, and Forest River's recall number is 51-0715.
