Subaru Ascent Recall 18V508: Missing B-Pillar Welds May Weaken Crash Protection

NHTSA campaign 18V508, reported August 2, 2018, 293 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2019 Subaru Ascent vehicles may be missing spot welds on or around the B-pillar, the structural post beside the front seats. This can reduce the vehicle's strength, so in a crash the body may not protect occupants as intended, which increases the risk of injury.

Dealers will inspect affected vehicles for missing spot welds. If welds are missing, the vehicle will be replaced at no cost to the owner. Subaru will notify owners directly, but you can also contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614 (Subaru recall number WTU-80). Check your VIN for open recalls to see whether your vehicle is included.
