Jeep Cherokee Recall 18V344: Engine May Stall Due to Valve or Camshaft Failure

NHTSA campaign 18V344, reported May 25, 2018, 14 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2019 Jeep Cherokee vehicles with the 2.0L engine may be missing valve stem keepers, which can allow a valve to drop into an engine cylinder and cause engine damage. These engines may also have a reversed camshaft cap that can damage the camshaft bearing and lead to camshaft failure.

Cylinder damage or camshaft failure can cause the engine to stall, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take the recall seriously and have their vehicle checked promptly.

Chrysler will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will inspect and repair or replace the affected engine components as needed, at no cost to you. You can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number U52), and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
