International LT Recall 18V306: Brake drums may overheat, crack, or separate

NHTSA campaign 18V306, reported May 11, 2018, 149 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some brake drums on these trucks may drag against the brake linings. This can cause the drums to overheat, which may lead to the drum cracking, separating from the vehicle, or the brakes becoming inoperative.

If a brake drum separates or the brakes stop working, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should take this seriously and have their vehicle inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will replace the brake drums and slack adjusters and replace the brake linings at no cost to you. You can contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 for more information, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
