Maserati Ghibli Recall 18V173: Engine may cut out or transmission may shift to neutral at low speed

NHTSA campaign 18V173, reported March 14, 2018, 9,044 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Engine control software can cause the transmission to unexpectedly shift into neutral or park, or cause the engine to shut off, when driving at slow speeds such as in stop-and-go traffic.

If the transmission shifts out of gear or the engine shuts down without warning, the vehicle can lose drive power or control in traffic, which increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy is a free software update: dealers will re-flash the engine control module at no cost to the owner. Owners will be notified by mail, and may also contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737 (recall number 365). Check your VIN for open recalls and contact an authorized Maserati dealer to schedule the repair.
