Toyota RAV4 Recall 17V831: Wrong load label may lead to overloading and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 17V831, reported December 20, 2017, 649 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some vehicles may have an incorrect load carrying capacity label, which is the sticker that tells the driver how much weight the vehicle can safely carry, including passengers and cargo. The label does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 on tire selection and rims.

Because the label may show the wrong load information, an owner could unknowingly overload the vehicle. An overloaded vehicle has a higher risk of a crash.

Toyota will notify owners and provide corrected labels free of charge. Contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 for help. Owners can also check their VIN for open recalls, and the recall repair is free at an authorized dealer.
