What this recall means for you
Some fire extinguishers installed in certain recreational vehicles, cargo trailers and restroom trailers may have clogged internals, so they may not discharge as expected or may need excessive force to activate. In certain models, the nozzle can also detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and make the extinguisher unusable.
If a fire starts and the extinguisher does not work properly, the risk of injury increases. Owners of affected units should check whether their extinguisher is a Kidde plastic-handle or push-button "Pindicator" model listed in the official recall notice.
The replacement fire extinguisher from Kidde is free of charge. Contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440, Kidde customer service at 1-855-262-3540, or visit www.kidde.com and click "Product Safety Recall." Forest River's recall number is 51-0544.
