Keystone Outback Recall 17V439: Trailer drawbar may bend while towing, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 17V439, reported July 13, 2017, 910 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2017 Keystone Outback travel trailers were built with an incorrect drawbar, the part that attaches the trailer to the towing vehicle. Under certain conditions while traveling, the drawbar may bend, which can affect how the trailer handles and increases the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected Keystone Outback trailer, Keystone will notify you directly. Dealers will bolt a reinforcement channel over the existing drawbar attachment to the frame, and the repair is free of charge. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369 and reference recall number 17-290. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
