TRAILER PURCHASED NEW IN APRIL OF 2017. DURING A THANKSGIVING TRIP I NOTICED WHAT SEEMS TO BE A TIRE DELAMINATING. WE REPLACED IT WITH THE SPARE. UPON INSPECTION WHEN WE RETURNED HOME I NOTICED THAT THE WEIGHT RATINGS OF THE TIRES DON'T SEEM TO MATCH WHAT THE FACTORY IS SPECIFYING THE TRAILER WEIGHS. THE TIRES ARE TRAILER KING ST225/75R15 WITH A MAX WEIGHT RATING OF 2,540LBS EACH. THE TRAILER HAS FOUR (4) WITH A DUAL AXLE SETUP. THESE ARE FACTORY ISSUED TIRES. THE GVWR OF THE TRAILER IS 10,500LBS WHICH CALCULATES AS 340LBS IN EXCESS OF THE TIRE CAPACITY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 KEYSTONE OUTBACK TRAILER BEING HAULED BY A 2014 DODGE RAM. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V439000 (STRUCTURE) IN OCTOBER OF 2017. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MOTOR SPORTLAND (4001 STATE ST, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84107) AND THE DRAW BAR WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, TWO MONTHS LATER, THE DRAW BAR STARTED TO RUST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE TRAILER SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LEFT OUTSIDE. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE TRAILER WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THERE WAS NO MILEAGE.
BUT BARE STEEL ON TOUNGE RECALL 17V-439 =- DID NOT PRIME OR PAIINT AND IS RUSTING - PER KEYSTONE - NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND SHOULD NOT BE IN THE ENVIRONMENT WHEREIT CAN GET WET. WHAT? - IT IS A TERAVEL REAILER AND IT IS THE TOW BAR. KEYSTONE HAS CREATED A POTENTIALLY WORSE SAFETY ISSUE BY NOT PAINTING THE REPAIR - NOW IT COULD RUST OUT AND FAIL
