Newmar Dutch Star Recall 17V420: Night Shades Can Drop Mid-Drive, Blocking Driver View

NHTSA campaign 17V420, reported June 30, 2017, 1,289 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Powered night shades on the driver and passenger sides can be lowered with the remote while the ignition is on. If the remote button is pressed while the motorhome is being driven, the shades may drop and block the driver's view, which could increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy is a relay that disables operation of the night shades by remote when the ignition is in the ON position. Dealers will install it at no cost. Owners can contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
