Polaris Slingshot Recall 17V357: Rear Wheel Sensor Can Fail, Disabling ABS and Stability Control

NHTSA campaign 17V357, reported June 1, 2017, 8,962 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some Slingshot three-wheeled vehicles may have been fitted with replacement rear swingarms that lack sealing grommets. Without them, road debris can get into the rear wheel speed sensor and contaminate it. When that happens, the anti-lock braking system and traction/stability control can be disabled, which increases the risk of a crash.

If your vehicle is affected, Polaris will notify you directly. An authorized dealer will inspect the rear swingarms for missing grommets and install them where needed. The inspection and repair are free of charge. You can also call Polaris customer service at 1-888-704-5290 and reference recall number T-17-04. You can check whether your VIN has any open recalls at no cost before you visit a dealer.
