What this recall means for you
Some vehicles with the TFORCE accessory package have an aftermarket roof rack whose fasteners may not have been tightened properly. Over time, these fasteners can loosen, and the roof rack could separate from the vehicle while driving.
A roof rack that detaches can strike other vehicles or create road debris, raising the risk of a crash. Owners of affected vehicles should take this seriously and have the fasteners checked promptly.
The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the roof rack fasteners and tighten them as needed. Owners will also be notified by Gulf States Toyota. You can contact Gulf States customer service at 1-800-444-1074 (recall number 17R1), and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
