Polaris Slingshot Recall 16V752: Brake fluid may leak, reducing braking and crash risk

NHTSA campaign 16V752, reported October 18, 2016, 6,860 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2016-2017 Slingshot three-wheeled vehicles built between December 28, 2015 and April 27, 2016 may have had their brake pressure switch overtightened during assembly. This can damage the switch seal and allow brake fluid to leak out.

A loss of brake fluid reduces brake performance, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners of affected vehicles should take this seriously and address the issue promptly.

Polaris will notify owners, and authorized dealers will install new brake pressure switch seals free of charge. Owners can contact Polaris customer service at 1-855-863-2284, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
