Freightliner Business Class M2 Recall 16V207: Front tires may be overloaded and fail, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 16V207, reported April 12, 2016, 4 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain trucks were built with front axles rated for 20,000 pounds, but the Bridgestone R249 front tires installed on them have a lower maximum load capacity. The truck operator could unintentionally overload these tires, which may cause a tire failure.

A tire failure can lead to a loss of control and increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware that the front tires, not the axle, are the limiting component on these vehicles.

Dealers will replace the front tires with tires of a higher load capacity at no cost to you. Contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 800-547-0712 and reference recall FL-706, or check your vehicle identification number for open recalls.
