Coachmen Galleria Recall 16V094: Missing weight rating label may lead to overloading and crash risk

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016 Coachmen Galleria motorhomes built between October 30, 2015 and February 15, 2016 have a Federal certification placard with errors. The placard incorrectly lists the number of seatbelts as zero, does not account for fresh water capacity in the vehicle weight calculation, and omits the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). These vehicles do not meet the labeling requirements of 49 CFR Part 567.

Without the GVWR on the label, the operator may not know the vehicle's safe weight limit and could overload it, which increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy is free: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard at no charge. Owners can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8628 and reference recall number 225-02102016-0134. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.

Problem
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Coachmen Galleria motorhomes manufactured from October 30, 2015, through February 15, 2016. The Federal Placards on the affected vehicles incorrectly lists the number of seatbelts as zero. Additionally, the placards did not factor in the fresh water capacity in the vehicle weight calculation and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is missing from the label. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
Risk
Without the GVWR listed on the label, the operator may overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on March 3, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service 1-574-825-8628. Forest River's number for this recall is 225-02102016-0134.
