Freightliner Business Class M2 Recall 15V859: Loose axle nuts can cause driveshaft to disconnect

NHTSA campaign 15V859, reported December 22, 2015, 43 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain heavy trucks built between late 2014 and late 2015 may have hex nuts on the drive axle's flange yoke that were not properly tightened. If these nuts are not tightened to specification, the driveshaft can separate from the drive axle, causing a loss of propulsion and raising the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the hex nuts on the flange yoke and tighten them as needed. Owners will be notified by the manufacturer, but you can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls and contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-745-8000 or Marmon-Herrington customer service at 1-800-547-0712, referencing recall FL-699.
