The affected vehicles are equipped with certain Lippert-brand Coachstep Double and Triple Electric Steps. These steps use a bolt to attach the fan gear assembly to the steps. What this recall means for you
The electric entry and exit steps on certain motorhomes and trailers may have a bolt that can fracture. When it does, the fan gear attaching the steps can disengage, so the steps may not stay in their expected position and may become unstable.
Unstable steps raise the risk of injury when you enter or exit the vehicle. Owners should take care when using the steps and check whether their vehicle is covered by this recall.
The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will install a retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism. You can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-389-4600 (recall number 51-11102015-0109) or Lippert Components at 1-574-537-8900. Also check your VIN for open recalls.
