Honda GL1800 Recall 15V700: Rear Brake May Drag and Cause Crash or Fire

NHTSA campaign 15V700, reported October 23, 2015, 145,219 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The rear brake on certain Honda GL1800 motorcycles may continue to drag after the brake is released. This can heat the brake enough to create a risk of fire, and the added drag can increase the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected model year 2001-2005 GL1800 or GL1800A, or a 2001-2010 or 2012-2015 GL1800 or 2013-2015 GL1800B, Honda will replace the secondary brake master cylinder and the rear brake master cylinder, and flush the brake fluid, free of charge at an authorized dealer. Honda will also notify owners directly. This recall supersedes earlier recall 14V-472.

To check whether your motorcycle is affected, enter your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup or contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870 (Honda recall number JV6).
