Jeep Liberty Recall 15V673: Air Bags May Deploy Unexpectedly While Driving

NHTSA campaign 15V673, reported October 19, 2015, 284,611 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles have an air bag electronic control module that can be affected by electrical noise beyond its tolerance. A component inside the module may fail, causing the front air bags, side air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy without a crash while the vehicle is being driven.

Unexpected air bag deployment can injure occupants and may increase the possibility of a vehicle crash. If you own an affected vehicle, the air bag control module and, where needed, the side impact sensors will be replaced free of charge by an authorized dealer. Chrysler will notify owners directly. You can also contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
