Mercedes-Benz S550 4MATIC Recall 15V657: Front seat belts may be swapped, weakening crash protection

NHTSA campaign 15V657, reported October 14, 2015, 2,580 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Left-side and right-side front seat belts may have been installed on the wrong sides in certain vehicles. This can cause the belt's installation angle to be incorrect, which affects how the seat belt locks, and the child seat restraint function for the passenger seat would not be available.

If a seat belt is installed improperly, it may not properly restrain the occupant in a crash, which increases the risk of injury.

Dealers will inspect the front seat belt installation and correct it as necessary, at no cost to owners. Owners will be notified by mail. You can also contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, referencing recall number 2015100002, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
