RAM 5500 Recall 15V468: Front Suspension Weld May Fail, Risking Crash

NHTSA campaign 15V468, reported July 27, 2015, 199 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015 Ram 4500 and 5500 trucks built between January 30, 2015 and February 6, 2015 may have a weld on the front upper control arm that was not fully penetrated during manufacturing. This weakens the joint between the control arm loop and its spacer, which can reduce front suspension stability.

A loss of suspension stability can affect how well you control the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace any affected upper control arms at no cost to you. Owners will be notified by Chrysler, but you can also contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and check your VIN for open recalls.
