Gillig LOW Floor Recall 15V420: Buses May Catch Fire From Chafing Fuel Wiring

NHTSA campaign 15V420, reported July 1, 2015, 6,971 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The grid heater electrical power cable on these transit buses is routed so it may rub against a fuel injector hard line. Over time, this rubbing can wear through the cable, causing a short circuit, or the fuel line may leak fuel.

Either condition raises the risk of a fire in the engine compartment. Owners should not ignore this recall, since a fuel leak or electrical short near a hot engine is a serious hazard.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. Dealers will inspect the grid heater power cable and fuel injector hard line for wear and then properly route and support the cable. Gillig will also notify owners directly, and you can contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500. You can also check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.
