Autocar Xpeditor Recall 15V280: Oil Leak Near Hot Parts Can Cause Engine Fire

NHTSA campaign 15V280, reported May 13, 2015, 5,245 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Excessive crankcase pressure can cause a vent tube elbow to detach from the crankcase breather. When this happens, engine oil can escape and contact hot surfaces, which increases the risk of a vehicle fire.

The repair is free at a Cummins service center. It involves securing the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogramming the engine control module with software that adjusts engine output under misfire conditions to limit crankcase pressure. Cummins will notify owners on behalf of the manufacturer, but you can also contact Autocar customer service at 1-765-489-5499 or Cummins Inc. at 1-800-343-7357.

Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is affected and still needs this repair.
