International Prostar Recall 15V241: HVAC Blower Module Can Overheat and Cause Fire

NHTSA campaign 15V241, reported April 22, 2015, 82,736 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A double battery jump start or an electrical load dump can send too much voltage to the linear power module that controls the HVAC blower speed. This overvoltage can cause the module to overheat and fail.

If the linear power module overheats and fails, there is an increased risk of a fire. Owners should watch for this recall notice and contact the manufacturer's customer service line at 1-800-448-7825 if they have questions.

The repair is free: an authorized dealer will replace the linear power module with an upgraded part. An interim notice was mailed on June 18, 2015, and a second notice will be mailed when parts become available. Check your VIN for open recalls on this vehicle.
