Mitsubishi Lancer Recall 15V232: Lights and wipers may fail intermittently, reducing visibility

NHTSA campaign 15V232, reported April 20, 2015, 53,396 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

An electronic control unit (ECU) that controls the headlights, tail lights, and windshield wipers may have unstable voltage because of a manufacturing error. This can cause the lights and wipers to fail intermittently.

If the headlights or windshield wipers fail, the driver may have reduced visibility. If the tail lights fail, the vehicle may be less visible to other drivers. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Mitsubishi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected ECU free of charge. To check whether your vehicle is included, contact Mitsubishi customer service at 1-888-648-7820 and reference recall SR-15-002, and check your VIN for open recalls.
