Mercedes-Benz C 300 Recall 15V138: Fuel pump may leak fuel or stall, risking fire or crash

NHTSA campaign 15V138, reported March 10, 2015, 3,039 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The fuel delivery module in these vehicles may not be properly secured to the fuel tank, so its locking plate can loosen and allow fuel to leak. Separately, electrical wires connected to the module may be pinched between the module flange and the tank, which can stop the fuel pump and cause the engine to stall.

A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire, and a sudden stall increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously.

Dealers will inspect the vehicle for a loose locking plate and pinched wires and correct any problem found, at no cost to the owner. To schedule the repair, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and reference recall number 2015030004. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
