While driving a 2023 MINI Countryman on two separate occasions, the vehicle suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. Pressing the accelerator did not produce the expected power/response, creating a hazardous loss-of-propulsion condition in traffic; the car rolled to a stop each time. I was able to get the vehicle to a safe location, but the incidents could have resulted in a collision. There were *no* warning lights, warning messages, or other clear symptoms before the loss of acceleration. The vehicle had (unbeknownst to me, prior to my ownership) previously experienced an electrical/battery-related event after its parking lights were left on, followed by diagnostic fault codes. [XXX]: Clear blue sky conditions. Cools temps 63 degrees. Driving 75 mph on [XXX] South of Sarasota FL,. 2:30 pm, low traffic a few average cars around me. I had the window slightly opened for a moment then closed it and turned the heat on low just to get some warmth. Within moments I experienced a deafening explosion and look up and see the Sunroof completely shattered. Glass all over me and the car. I have pictures to support.
