My 2007 Hyundai Azera is subject to NHTSA Recall 18V026 (Hyundai Safety Recall Campaign 172) for water intrusion into the ABS control module causing electrical short circuits and fire risk. The recall remedy — installation of a relay to cut power to the ABS module when the ignition is off — was completed on my vehicle. Despite the completed remedy, the ABS module shorted and failed. At the diagnosing dealer (Hyundai of Ogden, Ogden, UT), technicians found a blown 20A ABS fuse and no communication with the module; when a replacement fuse was installed, the ABS module immediately began smoking. The technician documented water intrusion into the module as the cause — the same failure mod
