My car was originally parked outside the garage. I started the vehicle using the key fob. I began to press the remote smart parking assist button to back the car into the garage but the button was not working correctly and would not move the car. At that point, I went into the car and reversed it manually into the garage. I placed the car in âparkâ and exited the vehicle to check the position of the car. The position was off so I got back in the car and proceeded to move the car forward a couple of feet. I pressed the âparkâ button and exited the vehicle. Windshield cracks- I got two windshield cracks from a very small rocks, going at very low speeds. The glass does NOT seem thick/resistant enough. the two crack occurred on the SEPARATE occasions. There are multiple complains about his known issue with GV80 and other Genesis vehicles. After getting a small chip, it quickly develops into a crack as the glass is not holding as it should.
In March 2026, I was driving on the freeway when the car shut itself off and put itself into neutral and accessory modes. There was no warning. This put the safety of myself and other drivers on the road at serious risk because I was unable to accelerate or adequately control my vehicle without warning. The dealer says the car "is operating as designed."
The contact owns a 2024 Genesis GV80. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V229000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal gasoline odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. While the vehicle was parked, the gasoline odor was also present outside the vehicle, especially while parked in the garage at the residence. The contact stated that there was condensation underneath the vehicle near the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
I have a concern with the power folding rear seats to increase the cargo space. It doesn't stopped if you are sitting in the seat and pushed the button. I tested it myself. This to me is very alarming and Genesis need to fix it or someone will get hurt or killed like the Hyundai Palisades case. A child shouldn't have to lose their life for Hyundai to fix a known issue. I really hope Genesis will follow suit and fix the problem before anyone else get hurt.
