The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power, the check engine warning light illuminated, and an abnormal burning odor was coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V435000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 189,373.
Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) I have two children and the vehicle has left me stranded about a dozen times because it will not even start. Upon research, this faulty part can also cause the vehicle to just stall at highway speeds. I have taken it to a 3rd-party mechanic, a Dodge dealership, contacted my 3rd-party warranty company, and called Chrysler Customer Care. Nobody can source the part needed because it is no longer manufactured. Stellantis' recommendation was to trade it in and pawn it off on someone else. It has popped about 10-15 CEL's while just driving down the road. Nobody can source the part and rebuilders will not touch it. No remediation or offer to make this
The manufacturer's label under the hood states only add 134y refrigerant to the cooling system but the service port is not the correct size. I bought an adapter and added the 134a refrigerant and my cars cooling system isn't working correctly and my car ran hot as well as I had to replace a temperature sensor. After doing research others have had this issue because the system is made for r1234yf refrigerant.
: The vehicleâs steering wheel intermittently hardens or "locks" while in motion, making it extremely difficult to maneuver and creating a severe safety hazard. This issue remains unresolved despite two separate professional repair attempts. The first attempt cost $600.00, and the second attempt at a different facility cost $1,500.00. Despite a total expenditure of $2,100.00, the steering failure persists. The defect appears to be a systemic failure within the Electric Power Steering (EPS) or associated control modules/wiring that is not being corrected by standard repair procedures. The vehicle remains dangerous to operate.
Subject VIN sits in database as completed for Takata Airbag replacement completion during previous Passenger Air Bag NHTSA Recall; however, recent "Do Not Drive" warnings that include this year model now state that Driver Side Airbag has also been determined to now need replacement. Having been on the telephone for numerous telephone calls over this past week with Dodge's Takata Airbag Team, Dodger Service Departments, and NHTSA to inquire about what next actions I should take with the well-advertised "Do Not Drive" warning through a variety of media channels to include my 2014 Dodge Challenger have been frustrating at best.
