Dear NHTSA Safety Team, I am writing to file an urgent safety complaint regarding my 2023 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which experienced a catastrophic failure of the rear braking system while I was riding on a public road. On [insert date], while traveling at approximately 50 mph, I heard a loud metallic noise from the rear of the motorcycle. Shortly after, I attempted to slow down using the rear brake to enter my driveway, but the brake pedal went fully down with no braking response whatsoever. Upon inspection, I discovered that one of the brake pad pins was loose and one of the rear brake pads had completely fallen off, disabling the rear brake. Had I needed to stop suddenly or avoid
After engine warms up and within 7 miles the motorcycle starts cutting out as if itâs starving for fuel, loss of power and jerking.
