MCI D4020 Recall 26V645: Bus Dash Light May Not Warn When Hazard Lights Are On

NHTSA campaign 26V645, reported October 5, 2026, 683 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain Motor Coach Industries buses, the instrument panel indicator light may not turn on when the hazard warning lights are activated while the master run switch is in the Off position. Without that dashboard reminder, the driver may not notice the hazard lights are still flashing and fail to switch them off when they are no longer needed. The vehicles also do not meet a federal lighting safety standard.

Hazard lights left on unintentionally can confuse other drivers about your bus's intentions and position on the road, which increases the risk of a crash. Check whether your bus is affected, and make sure you know how to turn off the hazard lights before you leave the vehicle.

The remedy is a free software update to be performed by an authorized dealer. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 24, 2026. You can also contact Motor Coach Industries customer service at 1-800-241-2947, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
