What this recall means for you
Certain 2026-2027 Mack Anthem and Pioneer trucks equipped with a tanker application package may calculate axle loads inaccurately. This can reduce braking performance while hauling smoothbore tanker trailers.
Reduced braking performance means the vehicle may need a greater distance to stop, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this when operating these trucks with smoothbore tanker trailers.
Authorized Mack dealers will install new software that disables the dynamic trailer braking calculations, at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 27, 2026. You can also contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 (recall SC0500), and check your VIN for open recalls at NHTSA.gov once VINs become searchable on October 5, 2026.
