Volvo VNL (4) Recall 26V619: Trucks Towing Tankers May Need Longer Stopping Distance

NHTSA campaign 26V619, reported September 28, 2026, 392 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Volvo VNL and VNR trucks equipped with a tanker application package may calculate axle loads incorrectly. While hauling smoothbore tanker trailers, this can reduce braking performance.

Reduced braking performance means the vehicle may need a greater distance to stop, which increases the risk of a crash.

Authorized Volvo dealers will install new software that disables the dynamic trailer braking calculations, at no charge to owners. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 27, 2026. You can contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 800-528-6586, and check NHTSA.gov for your VIN after October 5, 2026 to see whether your vehicle is included.
