Ford Ranger Recall 26V605: Rearview Camera Screen May Go Blank, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 26V605, reported September 22, 2026, 11,405 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The center stack screen in certain vehicles may lose power and fail to show the rearview camera image. Without that view, the driver has less visibility behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash. The vehicles therefore do not meet the federal rear visibility standard.

The remedy is still being developed. Owners were sent interim notification letters on October 7, 2026, and additional letters will be mailed once the repair is available. In the meantime, you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 26C42. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov to confirm whether your vehicle is included; VINs became searchable there on September 25, 2026.

When the remedy is released, the repair will be free at an authorized Ford dealer. Until then, use caution when reversing and check behind the vehicle directly.
