Jeep Wagoneer Recall 26V584: Roof rack crossbars can detach while driving

NHTSA campaign 26V584, reported September 10, 2026, 97,349 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The pivot bolts that hold the roof rack crossbars in place may not have been tightened properly at the factory. If the bolts loosen, a crossbar can come off the vehicle while it is being driven.

A detached roof rack crossbar can land on the road and create a hazard for other drivers, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should not wait for the mailed notice before taking action.

Dealers will replace the roof rack crossbar pivot bolts free of charge. Interim notification letters are expected to be mailed October 8, 2026, with a second notice once the final remedy is available. You can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall number 81D), and check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA.gov, where affected VINs become searchable on September 17, 2026.
