Heil Front END Loader Garbage Recall 26V535: Garbage truck CNG tank can be damaged, risking fuel leak and fire

What this recall means for you

Certain front loader garbage trucks from model years 2016 through 2023 may have been fitted with a replacement CNG tailgate ladder kit that contains an incorrect bolt in one of the ladder legs. The bolt can contact and damage the compressed natural gas cylinders.

A damaged CNG cylinder can leak fuel, which increases the risk of a fire. Owners of affected trucks are being notified by letter, dated September 25, 2026.

The remedy is free: Heil will replace the ladder bracket at no charge. Owners can contact Heil customer service at 1-866-275-4345, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.

Problem
The Heil Co. (Heil) is recalling certain 2016-2026 front loader garbage trucks equipped with replacement CNG tailgate ladder kits. An incorrect bolt may have been installed in one of the ladder legs, allowing the bolt to contact and damage the CNG cylinders.
Risk
A damaged CNG tank can leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Heil will replace the ladder bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were September 25, 2026. Owners may contact Heil's customer service at 1-866-275-4345. Heil's number for this recall is SN-26-001.
