Kenworth T680 Recall 26V442: Trailer Brakes May Destabilize Trailer, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 26V442, reported July 8, 2026, 8 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A trailer air connection quick release valve in the air brake system may have been installed incorrectly. This can make the trailer unstable after the driver applies the brakes, and a valve that does not function properly can increase the risk of a crash. The affected vehicles also do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121, which governs air brake systems.

All affected tractors have already been repaired, so owners are not being sent notification letters. PACCAR inspected the valves and reinstalled them where needed, free of charge. If you own an affected truck, you can contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220 or Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 to confirm the status of your vehicle.

You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether any work remains on your tractor.
