Forest River Wildwood Recall 26V439: Wrong weight rating label may lead to trailer overloading

NHTSA campaign 26V439, reported July 8, 2026, 18 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2026-2027 Forest River Salem and Wildwood travel trailers may have a Federal Placard listing an incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). The vehicles therefore do not fully comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 120, which covers wheels and rims on vehicles other than passenger cars.

Because the label may show the wrong GVWR, an owner could unintentionally load the trailer beyond its safe limit. An overloaded trailer increases the risk of a crash.

Owners should contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-534-3167 and quote recall number 04-2075. Dealers will install a corrected label free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 22, 2026, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
