Altec Digger Derrick Recall 26V409: Pole rack may be overloaded, risking loss of control

NHTSA campaign 26V409, reported June 26, 2026, 6 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023-2025 Digger Derrick utility vehicles have a pole rack whose vertical center of gravity was calculated incorrectly. As a result, the rack's capacity rating is wrong, so it may be rated to carry more than it safely can.

When the pole rack is loaded to full capacity, the vehicle's center of gravity can sit too high. This can lead to a loss of vehicle control during braking or cornering, which increases the risk of a crash.

Owners should expect a notification letter from Altec, which is expected to be mailed August 21, 2026. Altec will provide a safety alert placard free of charge. You can contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832, and you can check your VIN for any open recalls.
