Forest River XLR Toyhauler Recall 26V390: Wrong weight rating label could lead to overloading and crashes

NHTSA campaign 26V390, reported June 15, 2026, 38 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The label on certain 2023-2024 Forest River XLR Toy Hauler trailers lists a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) that is higher than the weight rating of the upper deck chassis. The vehicles also do not fully meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 120 for wheels and rims.

Because the label gives an incorrect maximum weight, an owner could unknowingly load the trailer beyond what the upper deck chassis can safely carry. Overloading raises the risk of a crash.

Authorized dealers will install a corrected label free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 16, 2026. You can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432 and reference recall number 79-2067, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
