Ford F-150 Recall 26V378: Transmission may downshift to first gear unexpectedly

NHTSA campaign 26V378, reported June 9, 2026, 44,963 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2014 F-150 trucks were previously repaired under an earlier recall, but the repair was done incorrectly. A loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into first gear.

An unexpected downshift into first gear can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the powertrain control module software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 8, 2026, and you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall 26S45). VINs involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting July 6, 2026, so check your VIN for open recalls.
