Ford Explorer Recall 26V371: Transmission May Fail to Lock in Park, Risking Rollaway

NHTSA campaign 26V371, reported June 9, 2026, 58 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2024 Ford Explorer vehicles with a 2.3L engine and 10R60 automatic transmission may experience an unintended reset of the powertrain control module while the vehicle is moving. This reset can damage the park system, so the transmission may not shift into PARK.

If the vehicle cannot be placed in PARK, it can roll away after you leave it, which raises the risk of injury or a crash.

An authorized Ford dealer will inspect the park system for damage and replace any affected components at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed June 24, 2026. For questions, you can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Ford recall 26S39). You can also check whether your vehicle is involved by searching your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA.gov, where affected VINs become searchable June 12, 2026.
