Arboc Spirit OF Independence Recall 26V349: Wheelchair Restraints May Not Lock, Risking Movement in Transit

NHTSA campaign 26V349, reported May 28, 2026, 42 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2025 and 2026 Arboc Spirit transit buses may have wheelchair restraint retractors that do not lock. Without a locked restraint, a wheelchair may not be properly secured and can move during travel.

An unsecured wheelchair can shift while the bus is in motion, which increases the risk of injury to the wheelchair user and others on board. If you own or operate one of these buses, do not rely on a restraint that fails to lock.

Authorized dealers will inspect the wheelchair restraint retractors and replace them as needed, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed June 25, 2026. You can contact ARBOC customer service at 1-866-953-5555, and you can check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
