Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Recall 26V325: Roof Airbag Can Detach or Rupture, Spraying Debris

NHTSA campaign 26V325, reported May 21, 2026, 4,315 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain pickup trucks may have a defect in the left-side or right-side roof rail air bag (RRAB) inflator. The inflator end cap can detach, or the inflator sidewall can rupture. When this happens, compressed gas can escape and push the end cap or pieces of the inflator into the vehicle cabin, which raises the risk of injury.

General Motors will replace both RRAB modules on affected vehicles at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed June 24, 2026. This recall expands on previous NHTSA recall 26V166.

Owners can call GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or take the vehicle to an authorized dealer for the free repair. GM's recall number is N262557310. Check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA.gov, which has made the affected VINs searchable since May 21, 2026.
