Blue Bird Vision School Bus Recall 26V319: Wheelchair Retractors May Not Lock, Risking Movement in Transit

NHTSA campaign 26V319, reported May 20, 2026, 4 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2027 Blue Bird Vision school buses may have wheelchair retractors that do not lock. Because the retractors may fail to secure a wheelchair properly, the wheelchair can move during transit.

An unsecured wheelchair that moves while the bus is in motion increases the risk of injury to the wheelchair user and others on board. If you own or operate one of these buses, have the wheelchair securement system checked promptly.

Authorized dealers will inspect the retractors and replace them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 17, 2026. You can also contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
