BMW C Evolution Recall 26V305: Water Can Corrode Wiring and Cause an Electrical Fire

NHTSA campaign 26V305, reported May 14, 2026, 116 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Water splashed up from the front wheel can reach the electrical plug connection for the 12V battery ground cable at the DC/DC converter. Over time this can corrode the electrical contacts, which may cause overheating and increase the risk of a fire.

The repair is free at an authorized dealer. The dealer will replace the cable section with the ground cable lug using a repair cable kit, and will check the 12V plug connector to the DC/DC converter. If contact corrosion is found, additional sections of the wiring harness will also be replaced at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 13, 2026. To check whether your vehicle is included, search your VIN on NHTSA.gov, which will be searchable beginning July 6, 2026, or contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
