Spartan RV Chassis K1 Recall 26V292: Brake lights may stay on when brakes aren't applied

NHTSA campaign 26V292, reported May 8, 2026, 836 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Spartan RV chassis vehicles may have exterior brake lights that remain illuminated when the driver is not pressing the brake pedal. This means the vehicle does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for lamps and reflective devices.

Brake lights that stay on can fail to clearly signal to other drivers when you are actually braking. This reduces the warning other vehicles receive and increases the risk of a crash.

Shyft Group will replace the pressure switch free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 28, 2026. You can contact Shyft customer service at 1-800-237-7806, and you should check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
